Some individuals are born with less fat in the under-eye area and have an indentation commonly referred to as a tear trough hollow…
Everyone has a natural valley that sits atop the rim of bone that encircles the eye. This valley is a natural, normal contour… but some people have deeper valleys than others.
When the skin is slightly sunken a shadow forms under the eye this is why it often looks like a dark circle. By replacing some volume using a soft dermal filler to the undereye area we can gently lift the hollow and as a result soften the darkened circle under the eye.
The product we use is Redensity 2, the product manufactured by Teoxane. This is the only product licenced for Tear Trough treatment.
Redensity 2 is a specially formulated product with hyaluronic acid, 8 amino acids, 3 antioxidants and 2 minerals. It also contains lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic that will help with any post procedure discomfort.
The treatment is discrete and clients comment on how their face doesn’t look like anything has been ‘done’ however they do certainly remark on how they feel they look younger and brighter around the eyes.
The results are instant, however by nature of the product and the ingredients in it it continues to work and improve the quality of the skin and brightens up the under eye area over coming weeks/months.
Under-eye dermal fillers are injected into the skin using a needle or a cannula.
Here at Ewan Bramley we use a cannula technique as it reduces bruise risk and is a far safer way of administering the product.
One small needle is placed into the skin via the cheek bone, and then a plastic cannula is very gently fed into the correct position and a small amount of Redensity 2 is deposited into the hollowed area under the eye.
The procedure is not painful, clients comment that is more of an unusual sensation but certainly not sore.
Value for Money
Treatment results last around 12-24 months.
Our very own Elaine our hygienist has recently had this treatment and within a day was able to see some positive results. Her results are on the skin clinic page on the website.
